이/가 - Subject Markers

이/가 marks the SUBJECT - who or what does the action or is being described. • 이 is used after consonants: 책이, 사람이 • 가 is used after vowels: 차가, 커피가 When to use 이/가 instead of 은/는: • New information: 누가 왔어요? 친구가 왔어요. (Who came? A friend came.) • Emphasis on the subject • With descriptive sentences about what something IS like
