Location Particle 에

Place + 에 + 가다/오다/있다

The particle 에 marks location or destination. Uses of 에: • Where you GO TO: 학교에 가요 (I go to school) • Where something IS: 집에 있어요 (I am at home) • Time expressions: 월요일에, 3시에 (on Monday, at 3 o'clock) 에 attaches directly to the place/time noun - no space!

Examples

학교에 가요

hakgyo-e gayo

I go to school

학교 (school) + 에 (to) + 가요 (go)

집에 있어요

jib-e isseoyo

I am at home

집 (home) + 에 (at) + 있어요 (exist/am)

한국에 가요

hanguk-e gayo

I go to Korea

한국 (Korea) + 에 (to) + 가요 (go)

회사에 있어요

hoesa-e isseoyo

I am at the office

회사 (company) + 에 (at) + 있어요

카페에 가요

kape-e gayo

I go to a cafe

카페 (cafe) + 에 (to) + 가요
