Express ability or possibility: Formation: • Consonant stem + 을 수 있다: 먹을 수 있어요 (can eat) • Vowel stem + ㄹ 수 있다: 갈 수 있어요 (can go) Meanings: • Can (ability): 한국어를 말할 수 있어요 = I can speak Korean • Can (possibility): 내일 올 수 있어요? = Can you come tomorrow? Negative form: • -(으)ㄹ 수 없다: 할 수 없어요 = I can't do it • Also: 못 + verb: 못 해요 = I can't do it 수 means "way" or "means" - literally "there is/isn't a way to..." Common expressions: • 할 수 있어요! = You can do it! • 될 수 있어요 = It might be possible
